Silhouette was founded by Anneliese and Arnold Schmied in 1964.
The austrian brand revolutionized the eyewear industry in the seventies with the futuristic "Futura" collection. With appearances in "Emmanuelle" movies these frames became iconic. This collection is now one of the most sought after and expensive vintage eyewear collection in the world.
In 1983 Silhouette invented the plastic "SPX" (S for Silhouette, P for Polyamide and X for secret ingredient, that makes the material special). With "SPX" Silhouette has created the right plastic for the manufacture of eyewear that rang in the age of lightness.
Silhouette Vintage sunglasses are very feminin, elegant, light and have a very recognizable vintage touch. Most of Silhouettes sunglasses are oversized.
